This article is about Google Buzz and how to integrate twitter and gtalk into ping.fm
If you haven’t heard the buzz about Google Buzz, then you’ve likely been under a rock… it’s still too early to tell, but it’s likely that Google Buzz will have a major impact on social media including mobile social… and thus, this deserves your attention.
If you haven’t seen how Google but is displayed… take a look at my Google profile at this link:
It’s pretty cool (really) and while you’re there… take a look at the links in the right side column… you establish these by editing your Google profile. Also, while there, look for the CLICK AND TWEET ME link in my Google profile… go ahead… click that and say hello.
The point is this: Google Buzz appears in your Google profile and therefore you should invest some time to set up a complete Google profile for this purpose (www.google.com/profiles).
Now it’s time to activate Google Buzz within YOUR Gmail account. To do that, go to:
http://bit.ly/aKZO9Q
First watch the video, and then…
Click the button “Try buzz in Gmail”
This will activate The Buzz within your Gmail account. You’ll see Google Buzz in the left hand column of Gmail.
Google Buzz allows you to follow and others will follow back, much like twitter, plus it allows you to post status updates (only much more enhanced than with twitter). However, my focus is not to teach you everything about, Google Buzz today, but rather just a couple of tips that will help you get it going buzzing fast and with good results.
TIP NUMBER ONE: Establish your connected sites… you’ll notice when you’re in Google Buzz above your status update box is a link indicating YOUR “connected sites.” You need to click this “connected sites” link and connect other sites that you feel are appropriate. Not everyone, will have the same available sites to connect, because Google auto detects sites they feel are associated with you. So connect those you determine worthwhile.
TIP NUMBER TWO: This tip will allow you to post to Google Buzz the same posts you make to twitter.
Here are the steps…
1. Select Gtalk (Google Talk) as a connected site within Google Buzz.
2. Next, go to Ping.fm – if you do not have a Ping.fm account, open one up (it costs zero) and connect as many social networks as you like… for sure, ADD TWITTER and to complete today’s Google Buzz Tip, you’ll want to add “Gtalk status,” as well.
3. And finally, step three… when you want to make Twitter posts (and have them syndicated) go, not to Twitter, but to PING.FM. Posting at Ping.fm (or through Ping.fm) will replicate (or syndicate) your tweet out to any other social networking site you’ve activated at Ping.fm, as well as through Gtalk (which pushed into Google buzz.)
For those that are using a scheduled tweet service you can have your scheduler post through Ping.fm and thus syndicate your scheduled tweets throughout the social media landscape. WOW.
I know this is new and/or might seem complex, but it’s not really that hard. Give yourself 60 minutes, re-read this message, explore Google Buzz, set-up Ping.FM and… let’s get to BUZZING.
Oh and by the way… make sure you activate Google Buzz on your mobile phone as well.
Below is the link my video on how to do it:
See you later!!
